The ROOSTERS #1
1963 bis 1965
The Story of THE ROOSTERS As remembered by Hartmut (Schrat) Schlichting. Three young lads from the Bremen Neustadt met to play acoustic guitars together. Their playing experience mainly came from classical guitar lessons. Soon Wolfgang Wagner, Volker Sattler and Hartmut "Schrat" Schlichting were joined by Willy Fendt and Ulli Ranke. "The Roosters" formed. After some investment into hardware and electric guitars the new group was ready to hit the road. The firstshow happened at the Youth Club in Bremen Neustadt. The reactions of the fanswere very positive and "The Roosters" continued playing the Youth Clubs in Bremen. When all guys managed to reach the 18th birthday the band was able to play thenight clubs in Bremen and surrounding areas. We played the Lila Eule, Studio 200, Club 99, Schnoor-Falle and the group became very popular at Stagges Hotel in Osterholz-Scharmbeck. We were invited several times to play for the American Forces stationed in Garstedt and Bremerhaven. Like so many young people at that time the music that influenced the group was very diverse. This resulted in a break up in 1965 when Ulli Ranke and Willy Fendt departed the group to further their musical talents in different directions

1966 bis 1967
The group introduced ''LuckyÓ Eden as their new drummer. He was influenced greatly by Gene Krupa and added a harder beat to the group. In early 1967 the group turned professional. We played with the Liverbirds, a girl group from the U.K. and played the summer season at Norderney (Nuckelpinne). The new four piece band played successful together till July 1967 when several members were called for National Service. Till now the music we played was influenced mainly by the British Music scene. Kinks, Rolling Stones, Yardbirds, Fleetwood Mac and Beatles to name a few.

The ROOSTERS #3
1968 bis 1968
The group moved into heavier rhythm and blues due to their new lead guitarist, when we reformed for a short period of time in 1968 with Rudi ''AtzeÓ Barth at Lead Guitar, Nully Janzen as second lead guitar, Wolfgang Wagner Bass and Vocals, Hartmut ''SchratÓ Schlichting Vocals and Guitar and ''KaterÓ Carlo on Drums, but the times were changing. Finally at the end of 1968 we closed a chapter of our life. Some went on to play music in other bands or turned professional musicians, some never picked up a guitar again.
